That’s What’s Up!

Let me tell you how incredibly hard it is to keep this thing updated and do everything else I need to do, not just for myself but for all of Strange Media. I didn’t even do a post for my last release “Maur Trash” so let me start there and catch you up.
I announced that after May’s min mix, all future mixes would be a part of our new radio show “Strange Waves”. That started airing in June and we’re going strong. It airs every third Thursday from 8pm-9pm on www.JoltRadio.org Me and my co-host, the homie Darwin (Fresh or Phresh), feature local artists or people in the scene. After a short interview, we go over the calendar of events happening in the area for the next month and then I close out the last 20 minutes of the show with a live mix. We actually like to invite people to the station to party with us to make those 20 minutes extra live. So if you’re in the area, come through! Afterwards, there is usually a show happening and we roll in deep there. Want to hear our past episodes? Click below

July 12th was the release date for “Maur Trash” the third EP in my TRASH series of work and also third release on MLKMNY records. That alone trips me out a bit, but anyway, it felt incredible to finally get these out. I had been working on really rough, early versions of these songs since about 2014. They all started out as remixes too. I had been playing versions of each of these songs since like 2016. Each time refining and trying to make them better until they just finally felt ready. Shoreline started as remix of Lily Allen’s Sheezus, I played it a lot during Strange Bass parties in 2017. Sugar Plum was the one I think I played out the most since it originally was a remix I was working on of Ghost Town DJ’s – My Boo. Fruit Punch actually started as my remix for Usher’s No Limit and has since turned in to the most streamed song on this project so far. It’s bee crazy for me to hear these songs change and evolve over time. they all got a lot shorter and more concise, like boiling a sauce down to a concentrate. It’s also been hella cool to see the reactions on the dance floor. Well, I’m glad people are liking it so far and please keep sharing it. It’s free to stream on all platforms but if you want to own it, grab it from my Bandcamp. It’s the cheapest, it pays me the most percentage, and the price is the first few digits of PHI. Φ

August was really cool and loaded with shows. And September is shaping up to be the same despite it technically being the slow season. But yeah, also we’re trying to have a beat tape out soon with myself, MadSavvy, and Golden Flora. It will be a physical only release so look out for that either October or November. Other than that, I got a few remixes heading for releases soon and I’m going to start writing some new weirdness. See you soon, hopefully in your city!
